Token Passing Utilization - Best Case

• N equaly spaced stations

• T1 = avg time to xmit a frame

• T2 = avg time to xmit a token to next station

• => U = T1/ (T1 + T2)

• let a = normalized propagation time < 1and time to xmit 1 frame = T1 = 1

• then average time for token to move from one stations to next station = a/ N

• if a<1 then T1 + T2 = 1 + a/ N

• => U = 1/ (1 + a/ N)
