FDDI Capacity Allocation Algorithm

• all stations have the same value of TTRT and a separately assigned value of SAi

• late counter is LC

• Algorithm:

  • TRT := TTRT; LC := 0;
  • each time see token TRT := *- 1;
  • when TRT = 0 then LC := *+1
  • if LC=0 when token arrives, then its early
  • if early, save remaining time, THT:=TRT, and reset TRT, xmit SAi synchronous frames, xmit THT asynchronous frames;
