RS-449 using RS-422A or RS-423A

• Two electrical standards used with RS-449:

  RS-422A:
  

  • balanced transmission (2 wires per signal)
  • doubles wires in cable
  • 100 kbps @ 1200m to 10 mbps @ 12m
  • for high speed operation
  RS-423A:

  • unbalanced signal (common ground)
  • 3kbps @ 100m to 300 kbps @ 10m

• Backwards compatable

  can be made to emulate RS-232c by changing various connections
