• s(t) = A cos(2 __fct + m(t))

  where fc is the carrier frequency
  
  if m(t) = B cos(2 __fmt),
  where fm is the modulating signal
  
  then
  s(t) = A cos(2 __fct + B cos(2 __fm)t)

• baseband translated to carrier + & minus the harmonics of the baseband (bessel functions)

• FM & PM bandwidth > than for AM
