Exam dates/times
This Q&A isn't going to show up as an exam question I'm just including it to answer a question I will get if I don't answer it here.
Student question: Why is it called 'Midterm III' if the exam is scheduled during final exam weeks?
Quick answer: The university is making me.
Longer answer: I used to have the third midterm scheduled on the last day of the semester. Students seem to like getting this exam out of the way, there wasn't a single complaint even a few smiles. Over time the university starting adding more and more rules and regulations. Some new rules were good additions that ended up protecting students and Teaching Assistants. Other rules took the 'blanket' approach (some might say thermonuclear). Because there were issues with some courses now all courses would be restricted. Because there are limits on the size of the proportion of grading component during the last week of the term this last midterm had to be moved to the weeks when actual final exams were scheduled. But as you can see below this last exam isn't designed as typical final exam, there are any questions that specifically evaluate the earlier topics. (Indirectly you might need knowledge of earlier topics to understand later topics but unlike a class like an introductory computer science class those cases are few and far between).
This last midterm will continue off (in terms of coverage) where the last midterm left off.
| Topic | Approximate proportion of Midterm III |
| Mainframes and super computers | ~5 - 10% |
| Video and computer games | ~5 - 10% |
| History of the Internet, early private networks, microcomputers and major software houses will each compose roughly a third of the remaining proportion of the exam | |
