You can get full marks ('A' or even an 'A+' without completing this quiz. Quiz topics will come from the security lectures, possibly internet searching depending upon how far we get. You can get an idea of what topics you can be quizzed on by looking at the online lecture notes but the live lecture material will be useful (or perhaps necessary) in order to answer at least some of the questions. That is, you aren't going to be quizzed simply on the bullet points in the notes.
The quiz questions will consist of a few multiple choice questions.
Availability: a 48 hour window
Duration provided: During that 2 day window you will have 20 minutes to complete your quiz. The timer starts counting off the moment you start your quiz. Much like an in person quiz you should expected to be cut off and unable to continue writing after the quiz ends. But since there's only a handful of multiple choice questions ~2 - 5 that should be more than enough time.
With regular 120 minute final exams you need to complete several written questions and 30 - 50 multiple questions many of which will involve time consuming code traces and code writing questions.
Open book quiz, aids (e.g. course text book, notes) are allowed.
Recording of the quiz in any form is strictly prohibited
The quiz must be
completed individually, no collaboration is allowed.
'Submit' for D2L quizzes is equivalent to you handing in your paper quiz in a regular in class quiz.
DO NOT submit your quiz until you really are done writing the quiz because, similar to a paper quiz, you won't be able to start writing after you have done so.
DO submit your quiz when you have finished. Similar to a paper quiz if you don't hand anything in then you shouldn't expect that it will be marked..
In D2L you will see a submit button twice. When you press one button you will see an option to press the second button. You need to click on both of them to have your quiz graded.
First time you see it is when (I believe) when you get to the last question in your quiz you will see the 'Submit Quiz' button outlined in red. (Screen capture is from the quiz for another lecture).
Second time after you click on the first button. This time you will see
a warning something to the effect that you are now submitting your work
for grading and you won't be able go back to your quiz if you do so.
Click on the second button (again outlined in red) when are really done!
