  • Nothing: tutorials have not yet commenced

Jan 18 - 24

  • Vista orientation: Complete lessons 2 & 3 in lab (Lesson 1 can be completed at your own discretion if you feel that you need to work on some of the more basic parts of Vista). On the lab computers at the university you can access the files by typing "\\qatar.ucalgary.ca\coursefiles" into Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer (this WON'T work if you try it from home though).
  • Duplicate of the instructions that I wrote on the board for using the Snipping Tool

  • Continue with your MS-Word lessons

  • Finish your MS-Word lessons
  • Start your MS-Excel lessons

Feb 15 - 21

  • Finish your MS-Excel lessons

  • READING WEEK: No classes this week

  • Introduction to Blackboard
  • Finish your MS-PowerPoint lessons

  • Work on the Internet Explorer lessons

  • First lab (Monday): Practical review of categories of computers, units of measurement, transmission speeds, binary
  • Second lab (Wednesday): Open lab (question and answer after the Quiz, no new material will be taught).

  • Practical hardware examples

Mar 29 - April 4

  • First lab (Monday): Presentations
  • Second lab (Wednesday): Quiz and then presentations afterwards

April 5 - 11

  • First lab (Monday): Presentations
  • Second lab (Wednesday): second attempt at the typing test

April 12 - 18

  • First lab (Monday): second attempt at the typing test for students who had the hospital exam in Miss Lois' class. For other students this will be your opportunity to ask your TA for help with the material covered in the course.
  • Second lab (Wednesday): the lab will not be held in the lab room. Instead during lab time we will have a lecture in the lecture room G66.
