How students can get access to free Microsoft Software

MSDNAA (MSDN Academic Alliance)

(From the Microsoft website): The MSDN Academic Alliance is an annual membership program for departments that teach and utilize technology such as Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Systems departments. The membership provides a complete, inexpensive solution to keep academic labs, faculty and students on the leading edge of technology.

With this membership, you and your colleagues will have the latest development tools, operating systems, server software, documentation, and technical references at your fingertips. In addition, your students will have complete access to these tools on their personal computers and in your departments' labs.

(Instructions to access the software written by our System Administrator Gerald)

For answers to general questions about the MSDN Academic Alliance Program send an email to Gerald: gerald@cpsc.ucalgary.ca.

Any users who had access last term will still have access using their previous username, which should be the preferred UofC IT email address. New users added this term will have to 'Register' using the following link:
https://msdn01.e-academy.com/ucalgary_cs/index.cfm?loc=login/login

  1. Click on the "REGISTER" button

  2. Enter your user account name (preferred UofC IT email address) in the Username field

  3. Choose a valid email address which must remain active and valid during your entire enrollment in CPSC.  This email address is required to active your MSDNAA account and important email regarding the MSDNAA program will be sent there.  We strongly recommend using your University of Calgary's IT email account which you will need to  configure/validate before registering in the CS-MSDNAA program.  Avoid using email accounts from your ISP provider as they may change which may cause your email address to become invalid.
