My idea for a net art project would be one that allows people to see what the sky above them would look like had it not been for light pollution. The user would be able to take a picture of the night sky with their phone and the program would get location and time data either from the image metadata or let the user enter the data manually through the program. It would use this data to find astronomical data in order to figure out what the stars looked like when the picture was taken and generate a version of the image the user submitted with stars overlayed in a realistic way to emulate the starry sky that modern society has stolen from us. The program could also have a version where the user can walk around with their phone with live feed of what a un-light-pollutioned world would look like.
