Evolutionary & Swarm Design

In Nature organic and inorganic entities are created using building blocks, (e.g. cells in living organisms).  These building blocks do not contain precise information regarding the desired form or function of the entity.  It is through interaction between them and their environment that these building blocks self-assemble into a desired form and/or to produce a desired function.  In living organisms, evolution is the process that dictates the change and development of form and/or function over time.  This bottom-up design and fabrication process is a defining characteristic of Nature.  My research involves developing a process, which harnesses this defining characteristic, to physically create self-assembling entities, at all scales.
